Happy Australian-made Christmas from @AuManufacturing

Analysis and Commentary

Happy Australian Made Christmas to all at the Australian Manufacturing Forum Linkedin group and readers, partners and clients of @AuManufacturing news.

2022 is coming to a close and what – another – momentous year of turmoil and transition for Australia’s manufacturers.

We are still experiencing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, while Russia’s invasion of Ukraine reminds us of the the need to manufacture locally the things we need, as well as the reality that there is always someone – energy companies in this case – willing to profit from others grief.

Cost pressures, labour shortages, the potential for recession and uncertain industrial relations laws loom over us all.

We have a new government in Canberra which has got off to a flying start, focusing on firming up renewables and passing legislation in its first few months to establish Jobs and Skills Australia to tackle skills shortages and a $15 billion National Reconstruction Fund.

However, we end the year without a start made on a comprehensive industry policy and no clarity on whether there will be a successor to the Industry Growth Centres scheme – so much remains to be done.

Our Australian Manufacturing Forum Linkedin networking and discussion group continues to grow – it now boasts 12,200 manufacturer members, the biggest on professional social media.

@AuManufacturing’s news website has had a bumper year – becoming recognised by Amazon as the number one best read news website in the manufacturing space.

Thank you to all our members and readers for helping make us the centre of discussion and celebration of the achievements of our manufacturing sector and the impediments it faces to growth.

And what better way to celebrate our Australian Christmas than with one of the delightful recycled, Australian made cards from Earth Greetings (pictured).

See you in January with more good news stories, industry leader and AMF member viewpoints, and analysis and insights by our editors.
