Hemp soup on the menu for ECS Botanics

You could soon be eating hemp infused soup with the news Tasmanian producer and manufacturer ECS Botanics Holdings (ASX: ECS) has secured shelf space for its products in Woolworths supermarkets.

The company’s distributor, Just Foods, has secured distribution into Woolworths for ECS’s Mexican Spiced Bean Soup with Hemp and Indian Masala Lentil Soup with Hemp.

The soups join ECS’s Hemp Seed Oil which Woolworths introduced to its range in November.

ECS CEO Alex Keach said the company would have to increase production to meet the new orders from the 1,000 strong supermarket chain.

Keach said: “Our fast moving consumer goods soups are unique in the market place.

“We are setting the foundation and capability to leverage the first mover opportunity in an exciting, high growth and evolving industry.”

The company has licences to grow and manufacture industrial hemp in Tasmania and export licences from the Office of Drug Control.

The company plans a medicinal cannabis facility, also in Tasmania.
