JSF supplier Marand wins manufacturer category at Australian Export Awards

Winners at the 57th Australian Export Awards were named at a ceremony at Parliament House, Canberra.

This year’s award winners are from the city, outback and bush, and span a range of sectors from businesses exporting designer mattresses, essential oils, aerospace parts, animation services and underwear,” said federal Trade minister Simon Birmingham at the event last night (Tuesday.)

The winner in the Advanced Manufacturing and Materials category was Marand Precision Engineering, which is the leading Australian supplier on the Joint Strike Fighter program, having delivered over $1 billion in work so far.

Marand have been building their export revenue strongly over the last decade, with exports currently more than over 65% of sales with further opportunities identified on military programs across the Air, Land and Maritime sectors,” noted Austrade in the statement.

Other winners included Microbiogen, an engineer of yeast strains for ethanol fuels, blanket and warming systems maker Care Essentials, and high-tech, sustainable undergarment maker Modibodi.

There were 13 businesses in 13 categories. The overall winner for Australian Exporter of the Year was named as Populous, an architectural firm which has designed international venues including Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London and New York’s Yankee Stadium.

Cumulatively, these businesses employ 34,000 and generate $7.8 billion in export earnings, said Austrade.
