K-TIG expands again in UK

High speed welding technology manufacturer K-TIG is expanding its United Kingdom footprint through a new distribution agreement with automation supplier Key Plant Automation.

Key Plant, which distributes for the company in the United States, will provide additional sales reach into strong growth sectors in the UK, and will soon be complemented by K-TIG’s own UK sales staff.

A key focus will be welding opportunities arising from the decommissioning of the US’s Sellafield nuclear site, which requires remediation and isolation of wastes in welded containers.

The two companies will establish an advanced manufacturing demonstration facility that will enable the delivery of welding automation solutions that incorporate K-TIG’s products.

The plant, which will focus on nuclear decommissioning, is is a duplication of the sales model the two companies adopt in the United States market.

K-TIG managing director Adrian Smith said: “The UK and European markets have long been part of K-TIG’s long term expansion plans.

“The region is experiencing growth in aerospace, defence and nuclear sectors, advanced manufacturing, a changing energy sector and businesses needing to innovate to stay ahead.”
