Kongsberg opens new headquarters in Adelaide

Kongsberg Defence Australia has officially opened its new $25 million Australian manufacturing headquarters at Technology Park in Mawson Lakes, Adelaide.

The Norwegian company’s Australian subsidiary’ new factory was opened by Federal Defence Industry and Capability Minister Pat Conroy MP as well as Norway’s Minister of Defence, Bjørn Arild Gram.

It comes hot on the heels of its investment in a factory to manufacture and service Naval Strike Missiles (NSM) and Joint Strike Missiles (JSM) to be used by the Australian Defence Force (ADF). It will be one of only two facilities in the world capable of producing NSM and JSM.

This new facility in Adelaide will help will support acquisition and sustainment programs including strike missiles, air defence and remote weapon stations for the Australian armed forces. This includes Naval Strike Missile (NSM) for the Navy, National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System (NASAMS),CORTEX C4 for Protected Mobile Fires, and Protector Remote Weapon Stations.

The company initially purchased 6,000 square metres of land at Technology Park from stated-owned developer Renewal SA in October 2022. It was previously co-located with Raytheon Australia at the Centre for Joint Integration in Mawson Lakes because of its role on NASAMS for the Australian Army under Project Land 19 Phase 7B.
