Sacha Leagh-Murray (pictured) has been announced as the new General Manager at building products company Laminex.

In a statement on Tuesday, Laminex – which manufactures at seven sites in four Australian states and is owned by New Zealand-listed Fletcher Building – said Leagh-Murray had been at the company for over six years and repositioned it as “a design leader and industry trailblazer”.

The new GM has previously overseen sales, marketing, category management, digital and innovation at Laminex. She comes to the role from general manager of sales and marketing.

According to the release, Leagh-Murray has “spearheaded the brand’s resurgence from dated to design-led and customer-focused”, with a continuous cadence of successful new product launches year on year since 2018”. Her appointment also symbolised, “a shift into a new era for the 90-year old brand”.

Leagh-Murray was important in initiatives such as the relaunch of the Laminex Colour Collection in 2019, and the introduction of designer collaborations with industry leaders including Kennedy Nolan and Yasmine Ghoniem of YSG.

She also launched Laminex into the wall linings segment with Surround by Laminex in 2021.

“The introduction of our wall panels signifies Laminex’s expansion beyond laminates. For the emerging generation of home owners unaccustomed to traditional laminate benchtops, Laminex is seen as a modern, design led brand that enables personal expression via colour and texture,” said Leagh-Murray.

“This presents an extraordinary opportunity for us to venture into new product categories and engage a new generation of customers.”
