Levett Engineering has been awarded a contract by Kongsberg Defence Australia (KDAu) for the manufacture and supply of Stacking Frames for the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) capability being delivered under Project SEA 1300 Phase 1 – Navy Guided Weapons.
Elizabeth South, Adelaide-based Levett Engineering is a precision component manufacturer and part of the ASDAM Group – currently bidding to take control of composites manufacturer Quickstep.
The General Manager of Levett Engineering Dave Lander said: “We are delighted to be working directly with Kongsberg Defence Australia to manufacture and supply Stacking Frames to transport the NSM Launcher Missile Modules.
“This direct contract with Kongsberg builds on existing component work Levett have executed supporting Marand with their Launch Ramp Systems the Launcher Frames and Rails work packages for Kongsberg Defence Australia.”
SMEs Marand Precision Engineering, Nupress Group, Axiom Precision Manufacturing, QPE Advanced Machining, Australian Precision Technologies and Aerobond are among those contracted to work on the Naval Strike Missile.
The federal government is contributing up to $850 million in partnership with Kongsberg to manufacture and service missiles at a new factory Williamtown near Newcastle, NSW.
The Managing Director of Kongsberg Defence Australia John Fry said: “As we continue to expand our local supply chain for the NSM capability for the Royal Australian Navy, we are very pleased to welcome Levett Engineering.
