The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Power and Energy Society’s (IEEE PES) Generation Transmission and Distribution Conference & Exposition Asia will be held in Melbourne.
According to a statement on Monday from Victorian events minister Steve Dimopoulos, the event is expected to draw over 3,000 attendees to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in September 2027.
The successful bid was put together by the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB), the University of Melbourne and the IEEE PES Victorian chapter.
Four days of panel discussions and workshops are planned for the event, on topics including renewable energy and storage, power generation, transmission and distribution and technological developments in the field.
“Events like these put Melbourne on the map for major international business events and [give] visitors the chance to explore everything our vibrant city has to offer – from our world-class dining and culture to iconic attractions and experiences,” added Dimopoulos.
According to the announcement, the conference “highlights Melbourne’s reputation as a world-class destination for business events” and comes ahead of the APAC Wind Energy Summit, which is expected to draw 1,500 delegates in September.
