The federal government has announced $5 million in new funding, which it says will make the Australian Made logo “more recognisable across the globe” and support new activities under the Australian Made Export Initiative program.

In a short statement on Sunday, industry minister Ed Husic said the grant will be administered over three years from July, aiming to:

  • Build the profile and awareness of the logo;
  • Crack down on misuse of the logo and protect and strengthen the legal position of the logo;
  • Facilitate export education and provide new channels to market;
  • Provide opportunities for logo users to gain brand exposure; and
  • Increase prominence of logo on products and marketing in overseas markets.

The Australian Made, Australia Grown logo can only be used on products licensed with the not-for-profit Australian Made Campaign Ltd (AMCL.) It is currently a registered trademark in the USA, China, South Korea, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United Arab Emirates.

“Make it here, ship it everywhere – backing Australian Made helps back Aussie businesses and Aussie jobs,” said Husic.

“An investment in the Australia Made logo is an investment promoting Australia’s world-class products.”

Australian Made Chief Executive Ben Lazzaro added, “It’s important that we value our manufacturing sector and provide an environment that encourages and assists manufacturers to innovate and build on their success while providing pathways to new markets. The end result being a healthy manufacturing sector, job creation and better access to markets.

“While much work has been done in extending the reach and effectiveness of the Australian Made logo, with the Government’s
support, AMCL will be able to further strengthen Australia’s reputation for high-quality, clean, green products in overseas
markets.”
