Atomo Diagnostics gets FDA clearance

Medical device company Atomo Diagnostics has received Emergency Use Authorisation from the US Food and Drug Administration for its one of its rapid COVID-19 tests developed with Korea’s Access Bio. The company’s CareStart EZ COVID-19 IgM/IgG test detects recent or previous Covid-19 infection. The rapid antibody test combines Atomo’s rapid test device (pictured) with Access Bio’s test strip for detection of antibodies to Covid-19. Access Bio will supply North American markets, while Atomo will market the system in Australia, New Zealand and India, subject to obtaining necessary approvals.

Australian Missile Corporation adds new member

The Australian Missile Corporation (AMC) had added Moog Australia to the AMC collaboration developing an Australian sovereign guided missile capability. This follows collaborations with Quickstep, Black Sky Aerospace, John Hart, Allweld Manufacturing, Benchon, Milspec Manufacturing, Thomas Global Systems, Skyborne, Archer Materials, Air Affairs Australia and Sage. The AMC is a subsidiary of munitions manufacturer NIOA, formed to facilitate collaboration between industry partners, academia, State Governments and Defence. CEO of NIOA Robert Nioa said: “We are looking forward to partnering with Moog. They are a truly innovative company with deep experience in the design, manufacture and integration of high-end guided weapon systems.”

Austal USA delivers LCS warship

Perth international shipbuilder Austal has delivered its 14th Independence-class Littoral Combat Ship, the future USS Savannah, to the US Navy. According to the company it has achieved significant gains in production efficiency, delivering the 127-metre long trimaran Savannah in under three years, 12 months less than previous LCS vessels. Austal CEO Paddy Gregg said the vessel was the seventh warship delivered to the USN in two years. He said: “It is an incredible achievement. The Austal USA team have developed industry-leading efficiencies in Mobile, to construct both the Independence class and Spearhead class EPF on schedule and within budget.”
