Mulford Plastics expands Melbourne facility to boost production and market reach

Mulford Plastics, renowned for its Laserlite Building Products, is set to expand its manufacturing capabilities in Dandenong, Melbourne. This strategic move aims to enhance production capacity and strengthen its market presence across Victoria and beyond.

Perry Pericleous, Managing Director at Mulford Plastics, highlighted Melbourne’s strategic importance, noting its robust customer base and excellent connectivity as key drivers for the expansion.

“Expanding in Melbourne not only enhances our capacity to serve local customers but also sets a strong foundation for broader regional growth,” said Pericleous.

The decision to expand is influenced by several factors, including: Melbourne’s potential to become Australia’s largest city by 2033-34, a strong pipeline of projects, including the Victorian Government’s $90 billion Big Build initiative and Immediate access to a growing market and a skilled workforce.

Mulford Plastics worked closely with Invest Victoria, which provided invaluable support in navigating local regulations and facilitated key local introductions. “The guidance from Invest Victoria significantly smoothed our expansion process, enhancing our confidence in the Melbourne market,” Pericleous remarked.

This expansion is poised to not only bolster Mulford Plastics’ production capabilities but also contribute to Victoria’s manufacturing sovereignty. By enhancing local manufacturing, the project aims to reduce reliance on interstate products, decrease costs, and shorten lead times for construction projects. This development reaffirms Victoria’s status as a prime destination for business growth and innovation.
