Manufacturing News

In situ coal gasification technology company NeuRizer is taking its technology to China where it could end up operating two coal to gas to hydrogen production facilities.

NeuRizer, which is developing the former Leigh Creek coalfield in South Australia to produce gas and then urea fertiliser, has signed a binding contract with China’s Meijin Energy Investments.

The company will initially conduct detailed assessments of two potential Meijin sites in China.

Following the site assessments NeuRizer will provide intellectual property and be the operator of in situ coal gasification sites in China under a licensing agreement, according to a statement.

The company will be paid US$25 million per site as a licence fee.

NeuRizer Chairman Justyn Peters the agreement provided the company with access to the Chinese hydrogen market as well as a trusted Chinese partner.

Peters said: “Project evaluation has already commenced and with travel restrictions lifted and the progression of the hydrogen economy in China we are well placed to take advantage of the rapidly growing market in China/

“This development is complementary to our Leigh Creek project with the Chinese team working on the China project and our Australian team working (on Leigh Creek).”

NeuRizer has proven its underground gasification technology on the brown coal deposits at Leigh Creek where the company plans to produce 200,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually.

Meanwhile Meijin Group buolds hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen powered vehicles and operates hydrogen charging stations.
