James Haarhoff has been named the incoming CEO at agriculture and transport equipment maker BOSS Engineering.

In a statement on Friday, Inverell, NSW-based BOSS said Haarhoff’s hire followed the appointment of John Lehman as CFO in July, and would “drive the next stage of [its] growth strategy”.

The appointment is effective in October.

“…[Haarhoff] will provide high calibre stewardship for the company going forward,” said BOSS co-founder and Director Michael Grills.

“He is a well-recognised and respected leader  within the agricultural manufacturing industry and brings to the role a deep understanding of the  complex issues surrounding the agriculture sector.

The new CEO will join following 12 years with US-based agricultural machinery manufacturer AGCO Corporation, most recently as its Managing Director for ANZ and South East Asia.

“I look forward to building upon the industry success and leading experience of the founding executive team to expand our offering, operations, and footprint,” added Haarhoff.

Alceon Private Equity announced a 50 per cent stake in BOSS in April, with The Australian Financial Review reporting at the time that this valued the company at about $170 million.

BOSS operates a 32,500 square metre facility at Inverell, employing approximately 220, and “producing the market’s most sophisticated, critically important highest yield generating seeders, planters, cultivators and aircarts, as well as heavy duty aluminium and steel ute trays, trailers and accessories”.
