New Insights from Old Factories – Metroglass unifies multiple software systems

Manufacturing News

Metroglass is Australia and New Zealand’s leading manufacturer of double glazed windows with seven Australasian processing plants and twelve retail sites, and the problem it faced was pretty typical of many manufacturers.

Rapid expansion saw the company with a plethora of software applications, legacy solutions, and underinvestment in IT and infrastructure, resulting in inconsistent data, poor reporting, and slow and inaccurate manual processes.

The obvious answer was an enterprise wide strategy and ‘one business platform’, in Metroglass’s case a company-wide enterprise application strategy with cloud based enterprise resource planning (ERP) at its heart.

But instead of trying to do everything at once, the company broke down the work into multiple stages or projects to reduce risk – a cost effective ‘evolution not revolution’ approach.
