New resources to boost green hydrogen uptake

Two new government backed resources have been launched to boost the hydrogen industry and link producers of green hydrogen to users of industrial energy.

A new hydrogen industry capability finder, HyCapability has been launched to connect Australian hydrogen businesses with a domestic and global market through a free, online, searchable platform.

At the same time the NSW government has launched a renewable energy collaboration platform to link up hydrogen producers utilising green energy with potential customers.

The platform, launched yesterday by NSW energy minister, Matt Kean is aimed at making it easier for manufacturers and other energy users to decarbonise their operations by utilising green hydrogen sources.

Kean said green hydrogen was poised to play a massive role in future economic prosperity, and ‘NSW is set to get to scale as quickly as possible’.

Meanwhile the HyCapability platform was launched today by its developer National Energy Resources Australia (NERA), the energy industry growth centre, and the Hydrogen Technology Cluster Australia (H2TCA).

Developed with the assistance of supply chain management platform EconomX, the platform allows Australian companies with innovative technology, services and equipment for the hydrogen industry to cut through the noise and profile themselves, according to NERA CEO Miranda Taylor.

Taylor said: “Australia is uniquely positioned to become a world leader in niche technologies and services that support the fast-emerging hydrogen industry.

“We just need to continue to seize every opportunity to showcase our capabilities, capability and experience to the global market.

“I encourage any Australian business working within or having capabilities relevant to supporting the development of our country’s hydrogen value chain to complete their company profile for free to start benefitting from this new shop window.”

Queensland-based hydrogen transport company H2 Hauler is one company which has joined HyCapability to connect with others and promote its equipment.

H2 Hauler director Trent Humphries said: “I would encourage all companies and organisations in and around the emerging hydrogen industry to sign up and make themselves familiar with this very pragmatic platform.”
