Nissan Australia celebrated more than five years of its Warrior remanufacturing program with Premcar this week, according to a statement released on Monday.
The partnership, which launched in late 2019 with the Nissan Navara N-Trek Warrior, has delivered 12,755 vehicles across its model lines, including the Navara SL Warrior, Navara PRO-4X Warrior and Patrol Warrior.
Premcar’s facility in Epping, Victoria has fitted 63,775 wheels and tyres, 51,020 springs, 51,020 shock absorbers and 12,755 bash plates to enhance the vehicles’ on and off-road capabilities.
The success of the program has led to Premcar’s expansion, with a new production facility opened in Epping in 2023, doubling its manufacturing footprint to 13,000 square metres across two locations. The company now employs more than 200 staff from 15 different cultural backgrounds.
Approximately 80 per cent of components added to Warrior vehicles are sourced from Australian suppliers, many of whom have worked with Premcar for nearly three decades.
“Premcar was founded in 1996 at the height of Australia’s local manufacturing era, yet now, some 29 years later, the company is bigger than it has ever been,” said Premcar CEO Bernie Quinn.
“We owe so much of that success to Nissan, and to its customers, all of whom value true local expertise when it comes to tailoring vehicles to Australia’s unique conditions.”
All Warrior-branded vehicles undergo comprehensive testing in Australian conditions, including remote areas such as Mount Disappointment, Big Desert, Arkaroola and around Lake Eyre. Big Desert serves as Premcar’s primary testing ground, with its harsh environment representing some of Australia’s toughest conditions.
Each Nissan vehicle takes one day to travel through the Warrior production line at Premcar’s facilities, which are located 900 metres apart in Epping.
