Noumed to build Adelaide pharmaceutical plant

Noumed Pharmaceutical is to build an $85 million generic drug manufacturing plant in Adelaide.

The company, part of UK’s Noumed Life Sciences, will build its first production plant in Australia at Salsibury following news it would receive $20 million to support construction under the federal government’s Modern Manufacturing Strategy.

Noumed is an integrated generics pharmaceutical company with a wide range of services and products from manufacturing to development.

The local plant will produce around 40 million tablets, liquids and creams replacing product currently manufactured in the UK.

Its Australian head is company director Mark Thulborne, formally of SBA Pharmaceuticals, according to his social media listing.

Adelaide media reports quote him saying the company would establish relationships with R&D providers including universities, adding to the country’s resilience in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Noumed products including Terbinafine to treat fungal infections and Sildenafil to treat erectile dysfunction in adult males.
