Orica upgrades global connectivity

Chemicals and blasting manufacturer and service provider Orica has significantly upgraded its global communications network by moving to utilise the cloud.

Orica’s 13,000 employees, many of whom are located in remote customer sites in more than 100 countries, now have access to a single managed network service.

Based on software defined WAN technology, the network provides secure and flexible connectivity using cloud-optimised technology and cyber security solutions.

The upgrade is part of Orica’s digital transformation and will support the migration of applications and services to the cloud.

Orica’s chief technology officer Angus Melbourne said: “Our network transformation will not only result in improved service, but also reduce the cost of our global network.”

Orica utilises digital solutions and automation to create safer, more productive blast outcomes for customers.

Orica’s IT team will now have access to a single dashboard with comprehensive visibility of network traffic flows, infrastructure monitoring, applications performance management tools, end-user experience monitoring, security and event logging, and inventory discovery.
