Meghan Quinn has been named as the incoming secretary of the Department of Industry, Science and Resources, beginning her five-year term on August 22.

Quinn’s public sector career has been focussed on the treasury department, and has been Deputy Secretary of the Markets Group since June 2020.

Prime minister Anthony Albanese said in a statement on Friday that, “Ms Quinn has had a distinguished career in both the public and private sector.”

Quinn has also held roles at BHP and the Bank of England.

Albanese listed among Quinn’s accomplishments a 2009 Public Service Medal for development of climate change policy and being “central to the preparation of the Australia in the Asian Century White Paper in 2012.”
