South Australia’s innovation minister David Pisoni has given a first glimpse into Precision Buses expanded manufacturing facility at Edinburgh in northern Adelaide.
The facility, enlarged to cope with a state government bus purchase of 340 buses, has taken on an extra 40 staff, bringing the full complement to 95.
“This is the place where South Australia’s new buses are born,” said Pisoni.
“On top of this, an Apprenticeship Academy will be established to help train the new generation of automotive manufacturing workers.”
Precision Buses was established in 2016 and built Australia’s first electric buses as well as advanced diesel designs.
Precision and Queensland’s Bustech formalised a joint venture earlier this year focused on technical collaboration and capacity increases.
Under the state government bus supply contract at least 29 buses will be built at the Edinburgh facility each year.
