Sydney composites manufacturer Quickstep has announce that it has secured a new order for components for F-35 fighter jets worth $11.3 million.
The company announced its aerostructures business had secured the order for the construction of Lot 17-F vertical tail fin components from Melbourne company Marand Precision Engineering.
Quickstep, Marand, Axiom Precision Manufacturing and BAE Systems Australia are all part of the supply chain that exports the Lightning jet’s twin tails for inclusion in the aircraft being produced for global sales in the United States.
The new order will be delivered in FY24 and FY25 from Quickstep’s Bankstown composites plant.
Quickstep CEO Mark Burgess said the order was part of a new multi-year contract awarded in August.
Burgess said: “This additional order means our F-35 vertical tail production is also underpinned by firm contracts through FY25.
“It is a great testament to the quality and delivery performance of our aerostructures business, especially in a challenging operating environment.”
