Family-owned vehicle systems business REDARC Electronics has established a dedicated defence business following five years of market research and partner building in the defence sector.
Owner of the Adelaide company, Anthony Kittel has established REDARC Defence Systems Pty Ltd to provide build to plan and company developed products to the defence vehicle sector.
Established in 1979, REDARC Electronics of Lonsdale south of Adelaide has been exploring the defence market since 2015, attending numerous international trade shows through Team Defence Australia.
Kittel said: “The first five years has seen the company gain a greater recognition in the industry.
“Now with a growing defence team and a growing list of defence partnerships, it was time to establish REDARC Defence Systems, an entity that will advance (our) defence portfolio.
The company sees a growing need for wholly Australian owned defence medium sized enterprises that can foster the development of intellectual property in Australia.
Kittel said: “The launch of REDARC Defence Systems allows us to provide a dedicated team of experts for our defence customers globally.”
REDARC is best known for its rugged electronic systems for off road vehicles and caravans, expertise it has translated into rugged products expected in the defence sector.
The company has supplied battery monitoring and power management solutions to Australian land vehicles domestically and internationally.
REDARC Defence Systems is led by two veterans, Mike Hartas and industrial designer, Ryan Kelly. Peter Serdar is the company’s Defence Operations Manager.
Hartas said, “Attendance at trade shows in Australia and overseas has proven to be effective.
“Our presence at events such as Eurosatory 2018, DSEI 2017 and 2019 and AUSA 2019 has grown our Defence exports.
“While each event takes significant preparation, the reward is seeing our customers confidence in our proven solutions.”
