Ridley commissions new Bendigo feedmill

Animal feeds producer Ridley Corporation has commissioned its new poultry and pig feedmill at Wellsford near Bendigo in Victoria.

All production has been successfully transferred from the former Bendigo mill to Wellsford, with the old site now closed and being readied for sale.

The new feedmill has a capacity of 350,000 tonnes a year, with operations at Mooroopna feedmill in north central Victoria also slated for transfer to the new state of the art operation.

Once consolidation is complete, Ridley will still have an additional 70,00 tonnes a year capacity, allowing for future growth

The total cost of remediation of the two old plants will be $6 million, according to Ridley ceo Quinton Hildebrand.

He said: “Having invested $47 million in the new Wellsford facility, it is important that we take full commercial advantage of its superior efficiency and product quality.

“Our focus for the year ahead will be to improve utilisation across our asset portfolio.”

Ridley has invested in the past eight years in new plants at Pakenham, Lara, Westbury and now Wellsford.
