Ridley opens new Bendigo feedmill

Ridley Corporation has completed its rationalisation and modernisation programme, opening its new $47 million feedmill at Wellsford, East Bendigo.

The mill, capable of producing 350,000 tonnes of feeds annually, will supply poultry and pig farms in Central and Northern Victoria.

In keeping with Covid-19 restrictions the opening was a virtual affair, with only the Mayor of the city of Greater Bendigo, Cr Margaret O’Rourke joining Ridley staff on site.

Ridley managing director, Quinton Hildebrand said: “We look forward to leveraging the technology that this facility offers, together with Ridley’s nutritional and raw material procurement expertise, to support the growth of livestock enterprises in this region.”

The Wellsford mill replaces the former Bendigo mill which has now been closed and will be sold, and the Mooroopna feedmill which will transfer operations to the new plant over the next nine months.

Ridley has now opened or expanded four mills as part of its $150 million investment boost production levels.

The company has constructed new plant at Westbury in Tasmania, Lara, Packenham and now Wellsford in Victoria.
