SA government shells out for oyster manufacturer

Manufacturing News

The South Australian government is shelling out $107,550 in export development grants including to a manufacturer of oyster production systems.

SEAPA Group, which has been making smart oyster farming systems since 1998, is one of seven companies to share funding as part of the South Australia Export Accelerator Program.

The funding will see the SA-owned company create five new jobs and potential export sales of $1.2 million.

It is already represented in overseas markets selling through agents in Europe, North America and Asia.

SEAPA manufactures a range of floating, logline, sub-tidal and fixed structures and systems for oyster growers.

Longline systems allow oysters to be raised and lowered to various depths to influence growth or prepare for storm conditions.

It was one of the first to make oyster baskets out of plastics and its designs help create the perfect oyster shapes.

SEAPA has been awarded nearly $30,000 in Round 8 of the SA Export Accelerator program which provides funding support to South Australian exporters at each stage of their export journey.
