Savic holds funding round ahead of production, planned exports

Melbourne-based electric motorcycle manufacturer Savic Motorcycles is seeking investment ahead of production of its C-Series, which was awarded Australian Design Rules (ADR) certification in December. 

On Thursday morning Savic told those on its mailing list that it has “decided to extend our capital raising through Equitise, the renowned crowdfunding platform, so that you, our supporters and customers, can become shareholders in our success.”

At its listing on Equitise, the company said it has received more than 250 presales of its C-Series (pictured) so far, “based solely upon its appearance, premium performance, and innovative technologies.”

The 40-kilowatt, 54-horsepower C-Series Delta model is priced at $19,900, has a range of 150 kilometres and can go from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 4.5 seconds.

“Savic Motorcycles’ mission is to provide competitively-priced, high-performance bikes that will put Australia on the global EV map,” the company says. 

“The Australian market will be our initial focus, after which the company intends to expand into New Zealand, the UK, and from there, the European Union.”

According to Savic, it is one of only two e-motorcycle companies in the world selling direct-to-customers, and claims pre-orders worth $6 million so far. 

It has raised $3 million in equity led by Artesian’s Clean Energy Seed Fund, and has received grant funding from the Victorian government. It was also awarded a $657,482 grant from the Advanced Manufacturing Growth centre’s Commercialisation Fund in 2021. 

“We already have an engaged and loyal group of first customers, and we are fortunate to have an immensely supportive group of first investors,” it said. 

“We believe that equity crowdfunding offers a unique opportunity to share our success with more people.”
