Schneider Electric recognised for clean energy leadership

Manufacturing News

Schneider Electric has been named the 2020 Clean Energy Trailblazer by The Climate Group’s RE100, recognising its commitment to carbon neutrality in its operations by 2025.

The Climate Group is a global member body of companies committed to 100 per cent renewable power.

Schneider Electric, which has Clipsal electrical products manufacturing operations in Adelaide and Sydney, aims to achieve carbon neutrality in 2025 with some CO2 offsets, and further achieve net-zero CO2 emissions by 2030 without offsets.

It is deploying energy efficiency throughout its operations, electrifying fossil fuel-based processes, sourcing renewable energy generation, and switching company fleet vehicles to electric power.

Managing Director Pacific Gareth O-Reilly said: “At Schneider Electric, our purpose is to empower all to make the most of our energy and resources, bridging progress and sustainability for all.

“We engage at all levels to accelerate the shift to 100% renewable electricity: in our own operations, by powering our factories and offices with renewables, and by providing low-carbon architectures and decarbonisation services to our customers.”

This is the first year of the RE100 Leadership Awards, which recognises companies going above-and-beyond to accelerate a clean energy future.

Schneider Electric was praised for its own sustainability and CO2 reduction targets, its portfolio of EcoStruxure technologies to enable customers to decarbonise their operations through renewable electricity, and its clean energy advisory services.
