UniSA and Swinburne University have celebrated the success of a webinar in partnership with @AuManufacturing that provided insights to companies interested to develop surface processing capabilities in a planned Surface Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (SMCRC).

UniSA Industry Professor Colin Hall (pictured) gave an insightful talk on ‘Surface Engineering & Smart Manufacturing’ and their transformative impact on Australia’s manufacturing landscape.

Equipment failures are a common occurrence at the surface, particularly in challenging environments where materials are pushed to their failure points.

Developing know-how, products and processes that can improve the service life of components is vital to improving productivity.

This can be achieved through enhancing the surface – through methods like claddings, heat treatments, coatings, and more.
