Synertec to commercialise Chinese waste process

Engineering design and construction firm Synertec Corporation is to commercialise a Chinese-developed technology for cleaning up toxic wastes from the oil and gas industry.

The company, which provides solutions to the oil and gas and pharmaceutical sectors (pictured), is funding the technology owned by Sichuan GreenTech Environmental.

Synertec told investors that Greentech’s initial pilot programmes with two major Chinese state-owned energy companies are making encouraging progress.

The process involves the addition of composite dry powders to toxic sludge and wastewater produced during the drilling process.

These wastes are normally sent to landfill or burned.

In Greentech’s process the powders dry the wastes into granules which can be incorporated in building products such as bricks and pavers.

The company is funding Greentech through a secured $1 million loan facility.

Synertec, which had sales in the past year of $24 million, has an option to acquire Greentech if all goes well.
