Product design and engineering company Tekt Industries has announced that Andy Atkinson has joined as Head of Engineering.

Atkinson is formerly of ASX-listed Hydrix — a high-tech design, engineering and manufacturing services provider working in connected and medical devices — where he held roles including Director of Hydrix Digital and Director of Engineering.

Atkinson’s new role is also as business partner and to Tekt’s founder and CEO Matthew Adams, Tekt said in an announcement on Linkedin on Monday.

“Andy is highly experienced across the high-tech product development landscape, including: strategy, development and commercialization,” and “passionate about creating products that bring value to a range of stakeholders and he is excited about the potential of technology for solving big problems and providing positive impact worldwide,” said the Melbourne-based company.

One of Tekt’s current projects is an augmented reality-based quality inspection system (pictured) supported by a $250,000 grant from the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre.
