Titomic sells 3D printer to university sector

Manufacturing News

Additive manufacturing machinery manufacturer Titomic has sold a custom high pressure cold spray system for use by Sabanci University’s Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Applications Center.

The sale was agreed with the Turkish university by company agent Seha Muhendislik Musavirlik Ticaret ve Makina Sanayi A.S.

The $2.4 million system is expected to be delivered and installed by April 2024.

The system is based on the company’s Titomic Kinetic Fusion technology and will enable capabilities in additive manufacturing, material science and surface engineering.

Originally developed by CSIRO, the TKF technology uses a patented process for the application of cold-gas dynamic spraying of titanium or titanium alloy as well as other metal particles onto a scaffold to produce a load-bearing structure.

Titomic Managing Director Herbert Koeck said: “This union exemplifies the transformative potential of our TKF technology and its wide-ranging applications in various industries.

“We look forward to witnessing Sabanci University pushing the boundaries of manufacturing research and innovation.”

Koeck said the sale cemented Titomic’s position as a pioneering force in manufacturing and engineering.
