Metal additive manufacturing machinery manufacturer Titomic has been invited to join DNV ProGRAM to help standardise cold spray applications in the oil and gas sector
The initiative from the DNV certification group focuses on developing and standardising additive manufacturing technologies for the oil and gas sector.
The collaboration will target the use of cold spray technology for manufacturing parts and repairing equipment in the energy sector, aiming to address common industry challenges like corrosion, wear, and part failure.
The project aims to set qualification standards for manufacturing structural and machine parts using Aloy 625 and subsea parts in low-alloy carbon steel.
It will also standardise the use of cold spray for repairs, according to a statement from Titomic.
“By working with DNV, Titomic aims to facilitate the broader adoption of cold spray technology, making manufacturing more efficient and sustainable in the oil and gas sector.
Titomic is a leading provider of cold spray machinery for metal component manufacturing and metal repairs, including in the oil and gas sector.
“This programme represents a major opportunity to accelerate the commercialisation of Titomic’s cold spray technology within oil and gas, an industry that has been challenged by corrosion, wear, and part failure since its inception.”
As part of this collaboration, Titomic will work with DNV to develop new standards for the oil and gas industry, using cold spray technology to manufacture parts and repair equipment.
The programme will involve streamlining specifications for common and specific part cases and materials, enabling broader adoption of additive manufacturing.
“Titomic aims to help the industry transition to more efficient, sustainable production methods, overcoming key barriers to the broader adoption of additive manufacturing.”
DNV delivers testing, certification, and technical advisory services to the energy value chain, including renewables, oil and gas, and energy management.
As a leading certification body, it is helping businesses assure the performance of their organisations, products, people, facilities and supply chains.
