Traffic Technologies to equip Qatar 2022

Roadway signage and IoT traffic systems company Traffic Technologies will provide software and hardware systems to boost the efficiency of traffic management at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

It will supply its Smart City traffic controllers and software for Qatar’s road network.

The FIFA World Cup runs from November 21 to December 18, and will see 32 teams competing across seven new stadiums and one that has been renovated.

The Smart City system enables a digital representation of the road network and more efficient traffic management across multiple transport modes.

The data can be used for applications such as traffic control and features the company’s latest ‘special priority engine’ application for bus priority.

Traffic Technologies has structured the sale as a software as a service (SaaS) offering which will provide revenues of $1.4 million this year and annually after 2023.

Managing director Con Liosatos said: “The contract is a milestone for the company as it represents a significant opportunity to deploy next generation Smart City technology in an expanding overseas market.

“We see this as a pivotal step for the company in providing SaaS across our markets and in particular using digital technologies to manage multiple transport systems…including autonomous vehicles in future.”
