Traffic Technologies wins massive order for LED lighting

Roadway signage and traffic systems company Traffic Technologies has won a massive order from Ausgrid for 64,000 LED lighting systems.

The company will provide Ausgrid with up to 30,000 LED pedestrian lights, 30,000 LED road lights and 4,000 LED floodlight luminaries over five years.

The contract is for an initial three year period, but can be extended by two years.

Ausgrid has about 260,000 street lights within its service area in Sydney, the Hunter and Central Coast regions of New South Wales, with about a quarter already converted to low-energy consumption LED lighting.

LED lights not only reduce the carbon footprint of street lighting but provide a higher level of illumination for a given consumption.

Ausgrid has adopted LED luminaries as the default for all new and replacement lighting in its network.

Traffic Technologies managing director Con Liosatos was not able to estimate the value of the contract but termed it a ‘significant opportunity’ for the locally made lighting systems.

“We are proud to announce this significant contract with Ausgrid following an extremely comprehensive and technical tender process.

“We look forward to working with Ausgrid in delivering state of the art lighting and the development of innovative technology for the future.”
