US defence department to fly Bubs infant formula to California

Such is the urgency of the shortage of infant formula in the United States that President Joe Biden has announced two special flights to freight Bubs Australia infant formula to Pennsylvania.

Only days after the US Food and Drug Administration authorised the emergency shipment of 1.25 million tins of Bubs formula to the US, the White House issued a statement launching Operation Fly Formula.

This will use Department of Defence contracted commercial aircraft to deliver the first batches of Bubs Supreme A2 Beta-Casein Protein, Bubs Organic Grass Fed and Bubs Easy-digest Goat Milk Infant Formula.

According to the White House statement: “Bubs will continue to work closely with the US government to have the first delivery loaded and ready to take-off by 9 June 2022.

“The second delivery will take place on 11 June.”

The initial shipment is destined for Pennsylvania, with distribution occurring to retailers ‘soon after’.

Bubs CEO Kristy Carr said: “We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Biden Administration for extending Operation Fly Formula to enable Bubs to assist American families as quickly as possible.

“Our team members are working around the clock in conjunction with the White House to resolve logistical challenges so that we can have Bubs infant formula products on the shelf in major American retailers as quickly as possible.”

Bubs is now working on the air freight arrangements for the remaining shipments to be delivered over coming weeks.

Today Ms Carr participated in a roundtable convened by President Biden with senior administration officials and representatives of other manufacturers sending product to the US including Reckitt, Perrigo Company, Nestle’s Gerber and ByHeart.

Bubs was the only producer from the Asia Pacific region involvbed.
