Healthcare manufacturer Viatris Australia has announced the Australian Made, Australian Grown (AMAG) logo has now been added to 50 of its Australian medicine products.

In what the company describes as a first for a prescription medicine manufacturer in Australia, 50 products manufactured in Carole Park, Queensland, now showcase the logo.

Products bearing the AMAG logo will include medicines across more than 10 major therapeutic areas ranging from cardiovascular health, antidepressants to well-known antibiotics.

The company, a subsidiary of global healthcare company Viatris Inc., expects that by the end of the year 64 of its products will include the Australian Made, Australian Grown (AMAG) logo, with all 128 products ultimately to feature the logo.

Viatris Australia Country Manager Sylvain Vigneault said: “Although Australia has recently experienced reduced manufacturing capabilities across many industries, Viatris Australia is proud that our local manufacturing capability creates increased and resilient capacity for the production and supply of high-quality medicines.

“We are delighted to now include the Australian Made logo on our locally manufactured and sold products to symbolise our investment in Australia.”

Viatris’ manufacturing facility at Carole Park is one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing sites in Australia, capable of manufacturing approximately four billion doses of high-quality medicines for Australia and over 40 export markets.

According to the company, Viatris integrates global and local manufacturing networks to leverage collective expertise to connect people to products, avoid disruption and provide people everywhere with access to critical medicines.

Head of Operations ANZ Rob Elliot said: “This is a commendation to our colleagues at Carole Park who are dedicated to producing high-quality medicines.

“We look forward to adding the logo to more of our locally made, locally-supplied products and continually celebrating our role in Australia.”
