Volgren has announced its expansion into South Australia, with plans to establish a new facility in Adelaide.
The bus body manufacturer, which currently employs 500 staff across facilities in Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and New South Wales, said the expansion would create new jobs and strengthen local supply chains.
The Adelaide facility will provide services for new and existing customers, including bus production, expert service and support, and fleet maintenance.
The company has already begun work in South Australia, delivering five hybrid buses to the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) as part of a supply contract with Scania Australia. An additional ten units are in production and scheduled for delivery within two months. These fifteen buses will service the Adelaide Hills expansion routes.
Volgren has also secured agreements to provide additional support services to DIT, including the installation of bus driver security screens.
“We’re excited to establish a local base in South Australia, allowing us to deliver reliable, sustainable, and innovative transport solutions while investing in the local community,” said Thiago Deiro, Volgren CEO.
The facility is expected to begin operations in April, with recruitment to commence shortly.
