WA food and beverage manufacturers awarded $10 million in grants

Eighteen food and beverage manufacturing companies in Western Australia have been awarded grants under the Value Add Investment Grants program.

The grants totalled $10.2 million, would generate $132 million in private sector investment through matched funding, and generate an estimated 600 jobs, according to the WA government.

The state had a renowned fresh and diverse produce industry, though this is concentrated in raw commodities, said agriculture and food minister Alannah MacTiernan.

“Although small, our food and beverage manufacturing industry is growing and is job intensive with strong benefits for the broader WA economy,” she said.

“Successful recipients include V&V Walsh, who will install a cold store facility to expand their production – creating an estimated 134 local, permanent jobs at their Bunbury plant.
