WA government announces grants for PPE manufacturing

The Western Australian government has offered matched funding of up to $500,000 for SMEs wanting to manufacture PPE, in one of three rounds announced on Thursday under its Local Capability Fund program.
The $3 million PPE Manufacturing Round would co-fund projects for companies wanting to make protective gear such as masks or coveralls.
“These grants will help successful businesses move towards manufacturing PPE right here in Western Australia, and move towards being less reliant on obtaining PPE from outside the state,” said premier Mark McGowan in a statement.
Another round would support feasibility studies for PPE manufacturing with grants up to $20 million, and the $6.5 million COVID-19 Business Recovery and Growth round would provide as much as $100,000 in co-funding for projects to increase business competitiveness.
Cumulatively, the three rounds total $10 million, according to the WA government.
