Nutritional dairy product manufacturer Wattle Health Australia has expanded its distribution capabilities with the purchase of pharmacy product developer and distributors Brand Solutions Australia and Pharma Solutions Australia (BSA).
Wattle will pay $4.75 million in cash and shares for the business, which distributes Wattle’s Wattle Health, Uganic and Little Innoscents ranges, including through Chemist Warehouse and Australian Pharmaceutical Industries outlets.
Turnover in 2020 was $14.5 million.
Further payments will be made depending on future profit performance above set benchmarks.
BSA’s founder Zack Bozinovski will join Wattle as executive director and chief strategy officer, with the expanded group to be renamed Wellnex Life, subject to shareholder approval.
The company commented: “This boldly conveys the focus on better health and wellness outcomes and the ability to take authentic Australian innovation to the world.”
BSA has successfully developed and launched a number of products in the pharmacy and grocery sector, with its product R&D capabilities added to Wattles.
Wattle Health executive director George Karafotias said the acquisition would strengthen the group’s ability to innovate and develop products for Australian and export markets.
Karafotias said: “BSA positions us strongly to achieve greater scale.
“While the business pivots for future growth, we also remain a business proudly using Australian milk to produce nutritional and care products for all life stages.”
