Professional body Weld Australia recently launched a new set of educational material, the Manufacturing and Engineering Training Package, delivered online and including 12 welding and fabrication units of competency.
According to a statement on Tuesday from Weld Australia, the MEM package is delivered at a “time, place and pace” that suits the student, and “reimagines the learning process with its user-friendly interface”.
CEO Geoff Crittenden said that “a national industry, which has a national learning package, needs national learning resources.
“Whether you’re an apprentice in Kalgoorlie, Ultimo or Davenport, you should have access to the same, high-quality training. Our goal is to help ensure that high-quality welder learning is consistent across the country.”
The project was created with a national consortium of TAFEs over the last two years, with members of this “[piloting] use of the resources, and some TAFEs have already permanently adopted them.”
A free webinar to introduce the new training resources is being held on September 15, with more information available here.
