Western Downs prepares for Accelerate Manufacturing Conference later this month

Western Downs Regional Council will hold its fourth annual Accelerate Manufacturing Conference, a free event to be held on May 21 at the Dalby Events Centre.

According to its organisers, the event will “bring together government officials, industry experts, investors, and innovators”, and feature a keynote from Martin G. Moore, host of the No Bullsh!t Leadership podcast and former CEO of CS Energy.

Councillor Megan James said in a statement on Thursday: “Seventeen experts from a variety of backgrounds will drive discussions on a varied program of topics including ‘sustainable energy and energy saving’, ‘disruptive technologies’, ‘manufacturing for the primary industries’, and ‘skilling, industry pathways and employment’.

“Now in its fourth year, this conference attracts a mixture of those who already work for a manufacturing business in the region, those who may be interested in what manufacturing opportunities exist in the Western Downs, as well as young people interested in joining the industry.”

Speakers at the event will include

• Paul Hodgson, Executive Director Regional Futures – Energy Transitions;

• Ali Davenport, CEO, Queensland Manufacturing Institute;

• Cori Stewart, CEO/Founder, ARM Hub; and

• Jeremy Phillips, Manufacturing Manager, SwarmFarm Robotics.
