Defence tactical watercraft manufacturer The Whiskey Project Group (TWPG) has announced the establishment of its new US headquarters and manufacturing hub in Edenton, North Carolina.
The Australian veteran-founded company is expanding its manufacturing capabilities with a 50-acre footprint that integrates shipbuilding and warehousing in the big US defence and security market.
In April The Whiskey Project Group (TWPG) delivered the first two 11-metre Whiskey Bravo – Multi Mission Reconnaissance Craft (MMRC) to the United States Marine Corps (USMC) under a $33.8 million contract.
The craft draws on 50 US and Australian original-equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including systems, sensors, modular mission sets and intelligence surveillance reconnaissance (ISR) systems.
TWPG is also building new light landing craft for the Royal Australian Navy.
The Chief Executive Officer of TWPG Darren Schuback said: “This onshore expansion allows us to expedite the delivery of our next-generation Whiskey Alpha’s and Bravos to the US military whilst enhancing our AUKUS supply chains.
“We are committed to investing in skilled, secure, and well-paid manufacturing jobs right here in North Carolina, prioritising local employment and supporting the community for years to come and look forward to working with the local authorities to support their long-term plans for the region.”
The expansion will create over 50 jobs and bolster TWPG’s capacity to design and maintain lightweight aluminium and composite vessels.
The Edenton facility will be TWPG’s fourth manufacturing hub, joining sites in Sydney, Yamba, and Picton.
