Australia’s manufacturing sector is at a critical turning point. With government policy increasingly focused on resource efficiency, decarbonisation and circular economy outcomes, manufacturers are under growing pressure and opportunity to rethink how products are designed, produced and managed at end-of-life.
Waste Expo Australia 2025, taking place on 29–30 October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, offers manufacturers a rare chance to connect with the entire ecosystem driving these changes. The two-day event will showcase innovations in recycling, advanced materials, energy recovery and sustainable design that can reduce input costs, open new revenue streams and ensure businesses stay ahead of evolving compliance requirements.
Now in its biggest year yet, the free-to-attend exhibition and conference will feature more than 120 exhibitors and 110 leading speakers from across the sector, including government agencies, industry associations and corporate sustainability leaders. Newcastle Weighing Services will return to the expo in 2025, providing manufacturers with the opportunity to explore its latest advances in precision weighing and data systems for improved operational efficiency.

“At CSIRO, we’re working hand-in-hand with industry to turn waste into valuable resources,” said Dr Adrian Trinchi, Team leader for Active Materials Team at CSIRO.
“From converting expanded polystyrene into styrene, recycling PVC cables, to transforming waste cooking oil into biodiesel, our R&D projects are driving real-world solutions for sustainable materials and waste management. We’re excited to showcase these innovations at Waste Expo Australia for the first time and connect with businesses looking to innovate and collaborate.”
Visitors can also access the dedicated Government Lounge, providing direct engagement with Sustainability Victoria, Recycling Victoria and the EPA. Running alongside the exhibition, the ecologiQ Greener Infrastructure Conference will bring together policy makers, contractors, builders, designers, engineers, and supply chain to explore practical pathways toward a circular economy in infrastructure.
For manufacturers, this is more than a sustainability event, it is a business development opportunity. Whether your priority is reducing production costs, improving operational efficiency or making important business ventures, Waste Expo Australia 2025 brings together the solutions and decision-makers needed to achieve those goals.
