Xtek receives US government defence order

Defence, security and space systems manufacturer Xtek’s US subsidiary has received an order from an undisclosed US government department.

The company’s 100 per cent owned US subsidiary, HighCom Armor Solutions, received a purchase order from a federal government department valued at $1.5 million for specialist ballistic armour products.

Delivery from the group’s ballistics armour brand will take place over the second and third quarters of FY2022.

Xtek Group CEO Scott Basham said: “By leveraging advanced manufacturing capabilities in Columbus Ohio in the US and in Adelaide South Australia, to manufacture world-leading ultra-light high-performance hard armour plates and ballistic helmets, we provide military, law enforcement, and first responder customers with world-class, advanced personal protection ballistic products and solutions.

“This order for $1.5m of specialist ballistic products is a great testament to the very high regard and trust that the HighCom Armor brand has with the US Federal Government.”

Xtek has developed specialised composite hybridised and ceramic armours including chest, back and side armour plate that are up to 30 per cent lighter than current benchmarks.

The company’s combat ballistic helmet is claimed to be the worlds lightest and thinnest true rifle rated helmet, and is capable of stopping AK-47 bullets.
