Department of industry taking input on hydrogen certification

Online submissions are open for the design of a national Hydrogen Certification Scheme. which will monitor production of the gas and the environmental impacts of this.

Stakeholders are invited to comment until June 22. The key areas of focus are:

– whether a scheme should have a domestic or international focus;

– when a scheme should begin operating; and

– how it should align with existing regulations and frameworks.

The federal government released a National Hydrogen Strategy last year. Its five-year phases include pilot projects, developing markets and growing the necessary workforce up to 2025, and then scaling up supply chains and growing demand and production to 2030.
