ASX-listed surface technology business AnteoTech has appointed Merrill Gray as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Scientist, engineer and executive Gray (pictured) has served a four-month period as Interim MD and CEO, and her full-time appointment is effective Tuesday.

“I am excited by the prospect of taking what I have learnt and supporting increased product sales and delivery of value to our customers and in turn shareholders,” said Gray in a statement.

“I look forward to further honing my knowledge base and creating more opportunities with the team and increased value delivery as time progresses.”

Gray’s background includes at ASX-listed mining and energy companies, and more recently in battery technologies and recycling, including for Livium Australia and Neometals.

AnteoTech listed on the ASX in 2000 and is currently focussed on use of metal-ion-based IP for lithium batteries and diagnostic equipment.

The company was awarded a $4 million grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) last October, supporting electrode coating and testing equipment at its facility in Brisbane.

Its projects include high-silicon anodes (branded Ultranode) with improved energy density, making use of a proprietary binder named AnteoX.

This work has been pursued for electric vehicle batteries and medical devices. AnteoTech announced in June that Ultranode will be evaluated by Swiss company Wyon, which makes batteries for high-precision applications including medical devices.
