Advanced manufacturing inquiry to hold public hearings on Tuesday

Public hearings for the inquiry on developing advanced manufacturing in Australia will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 am in Brisbane, examining the health, robotics and space sectors. 

According to a statement on Monday, the House Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Resources will hear from stakeholders representing those sectors on “what is needed to enable the growth of advanced manufacturing, financial and non-financial investment opportunities and their worker and skills needs.”

The program states that Adam Gilmour, CEO and co-founder of Gilmour Space Technologies, will be the first witness for the day’s hearings at the Royal on the Park Hotel, Brisbane, at 9 am (Brisbane time). Gilmour will be followed by members of the Australian Cobotics Centre at 9.45 am, the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Hub at 10.45 am, then vaccine delivery technology company Vaxxas at 11.30 am.

After a lunch break, Professor Andrew Cuthbertson, Fellow at the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences will present, followed by members of pharmaceutical company Viatris.

The Developing Advanced Manufacturing in Australia inquiry by the House Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Resources was announced on February 15 and accepted written submissions until March 30.

“The growth of advanced manufacturing is vital to our future industry and any changes that we recommend must be informed by industry’’, said Committee Chair, Mr Rob Mitchell MP.
