All Australia Post plastic satchels to be made of recycled material by next year

Australia Post has added its name to the list of companies moving away from virgin polymers, announcing that all of its plastic satchels will be made from recycled plastic by next year.

Companies including McDonald’s, Pact Group and Nescafe made major announcements at the first National Plastics Summit yesterday. Australia Post released a statement on Tuesday morning that it had also unveiled a new commitment at the summit.

“As online shopping grows, Australia Post is focused on reducing the quantity of non-recycled packaging that moves through our network,” said Australia Post’s Executive General Manager Community and Consumer, Nicole Sheffield.

It follows the launch of the organisation’s first recycled plastic satchel in December.
