Electrical engineering business Ampcontrol has announced the appointment of Director of Operations Alan Foster (pictured) to the new Executive Director role, which the company says will strengthen its manufacturing and see Foster “act as a conduit between the Ampcontrol Board and day-to-day operations”.

In a statement on Thursday, Ampcontrol said Foster currently oversees manufacturing operations for mining electrics and machinery, electro-motion solutions, power infrastructure, critical and stand-alone power systems, switchrooms, power quality products, and transformers.

He will join the board alongside Rod Henderson, the company’s Managing Director & CEO, and Stacey Sleeman, Finance Director & Chief Financial Officer.

“Alan is a trusted and valued member of our Leadership Team, and it is a welcome addition to have him join the Board with his wealth of experience in Australian and global markets,” said Henderson.

“The opportunities in front of us are significant as we rapidly expand and scale our manufacturing operations to support our customers’ decarbonisation needs for a sustainable future; Alan’s advice and guidance will be integral to achieving our vision to lead the global energy revolution.”

Chairman Greg Sedgwick added, “Alan’s leadership aligns perfectly with our commitment to innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainability. I congratulate Alan on his appointment and look forward to his contribution to the ongoing expansion and strategic success of the business.”

Before joining Ampcontrol in 2005, Alan spent 20 years within the Power Systems division of UK engineering and construction business Balfour Beatty, and working within the resources sector at Rio Tinto.

“I bring a global industry perspective, particularly in manufacturing economies of scale, which is essential to our planned business growth to meet the industry demand we are experiencing,” said Foster.

According to a statement from the company earlier this year, Hunter-based Ampcontrol has over 800 employees around Australia. It was founded in 1968, and is the nation’s privately-owned electrical engineering company.

It has foundations in the coal mining sector in the Hunter Valley, though has diversified in recent years into renewables and remote area power, with a current focus on decarbonising energy.
